For many reasons, it's important to have a copy of your birth certificate, and those of your children. It is an important piece of identification that you will require for everything from registering for school to obtaining a passport.

All records of Vital Statistics are confidential. That means that Service Alberta won't release this information to just anyone. Strict guidelines are in place to ensure this confidentiality.
